There are more than 200 horse breeds known throughout the world. For many of the horse breeds, a different club has been formed in order to protect, preserve, and promote the breed. While there are even different types and colorations of horses, a horse breed is commonly referred to as a "purebred" and can be traced in a blood registry.  Some of the most popular horse breeds include the Arabian, American Quarter Horse, Paint, and Thoroughbred.

*The Russian horse breed, Akhal-Teke can go days without food or water.

*The first horse known is believed to lived around 50 millions ago. It was about the size of a fox and evolved into what we know as the modern horse.
